4. International contacts:
- participation in the session of the UN Working Group on the Indigenous population (July, Geneva)
- participation in the session of the UN Open Working Group on Completion of the Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (November, Geneva)
5. The Consultative Committee:
- promotes realisation and controls execution of the decisions of the 2nd World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples in Budapest;
- organizes the preparatory work of the 3rd World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples in Helsinki;
- participates:
- in the work of the Mass media working group;
- in the activities of MAFUN (Youth Association of Finno-Ugric Peoples);
- in the preparation and organization of the Pan-Finno-Ugric Days (October);
- promotes realisation of aims and objectives of the International Decade of Indigenous Peoples of the World in the Russian Federation and its administrative units;
- in the International Finno-Ugric Art Exhibition for Children, March 1999, Moscow
6. The Consultative Committee promotes the development of direct contacts between Finno-Ugric peoples at various levels and areas.
